Harry Styles’s ‘As It Was’ has spent 15 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 – a new record for a solo song.
The previous record was held by Elton John, whose singles “Candle in the Wind 1997” and “Something About the Way You Look Tonight” led the charts for 14 weeks.
It’s also the longest a British artist has spent at the top of the chart, a record previously held jointly by Mark Ronson for “Uptown Funk” and Sir Elton John.
Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” remix with Billy Ray Cyrus holds to all-time Hot 100 record with 19 weeks on top, while Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” with Justin Bieber, and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” both sit at 16 weeks.
Styles is also currently at number one on the US cinema box office chart with his film “Don’t Worry Darling.”
