For the 2022 National Truth and Reconciliation Day on September 30, the Toronto Zoo is offering free entry to Indigenous peoples.
The zoo will also be hosting programs, ceremonies and interactive experiences that will educate guests and memorialize the painful impact of residential schools in Canada.
A statement on the zoo’s website reads,
“Join us at your Toronto Zoo on September 30, 2022 as we welcome Native Child and Family Services Toronto and Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services for a day of special programming. On September 30, your Toronto Zoo is proud to offer complimentary admission and parking to all self-identifying Indigenous people. This includes all First Nation, Métis, Inuit, and non-status First Nations people; proof identification is not required”
