Yes, a half a billion dollar lawsuit is on it’s way to Kanye West according to the mother of George Floyd’s only daughter, Gianna.
According to TMZ, Roxie Washington, the girl’s mum announced on Tuesday that she’s hired a team of lawyers to go after Ye, his business partners and his associates for harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress. They’re seeking $250 million in damages.
A cease and desist letter has also been sent to Kanye over his comments about George Floyd’s death. In an interview on Drink Champs, the rapper claimed that George Floyd died because he had taken fentanyl and not because of former police officer, Derek Chauvin’s knee on his neck.
The letter reads,
“Mr. Floyd’s cause of death is well-settled through evidence presented in courts of law during the criminal and civil trials that were the result of his untimely and horrific death. Nevertheless, you have maliciously made statements that are inaccurate and unfounded, causing damage to Mr. Floyd’s estate and his family.”
The medical examiner who performed Floyd’s autopsy had testified in court that his death was the result of “cardiopulmonary arrest” that occurred during “law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression.”
The Drink Champs interview has now been pulled off YouTube following backlash caused by Kanye’s comments.
