‘Black Adam’ made a solid entrance to the domestic box office with a $67 million opening weekend.
It marks the biggest domestic opening of Dwayne Johnson’s career outside of the primary Fast & Furious franchise.
According to Variety, the movie had already earned $26.8 million via Thursday previews and opening day numbers, making it a hit-in-the-making.
Its opening weekend is about on par with 2018’s ‘Aquaman’ ($67.8 million), but still much less successful than DC’s biggest openers, like ‘Wonder Woman’ ($103 million) and ‘The Batman’ ($134 million).
‘Black Adam’ reunites Johnson with his ‘Jungle Cruise’ director Jaume Collet-Serra and features a team of heroes new to the DC films: the Justice Society of America.
That includes Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Dr. Fate (Pierce Brosnan).
