Multi-Emmy winner Dan Levy who was the writer, star and co-creator of the hit comedy show Schitt’s Creek, is set to make his feature directorial debut with the Netflix film Good Grief.
The film follows a man named Marc Dreyfus, who loses his mother and chooses to distract himself in a “comfortable” marriage. Unfortunately, his husband also dies unexpectedly, forcing aMarc to come face to face with the grief he has been trying so long to bury. In order to attain self discovery, he goes on a parisian adventure for a weekend with his two best friends.
The film is written by Levy as well, marking the first project in his production deal with Netlix. Said production is being handled by Dan Levy under his Not A Real Production Company, together with Debra Hayward, Megan Zehmer, Kate Fenske, and Stacey Snider.
The film itself will be starring Loving Oscar nominee Ruth Negga, Luke Evans, Celia Imrie(The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Arnaud Valois(BPM Beats Per Minute), Himesh Patel(Yesterday), David Bradley(Game of Thrones), and Jamael Westaman.
In a statement, Dan Levy described the film saying “Good Grief is a cautionary tale about friendship and loss and all the mess that comes with it when the truth is something you’ve evaded for most of your life. It’s funny, it’s bittersweet, it’s a project that has helped me work through my own grief. And I hope it does the same for other people as well.“
Judging from Levy’s work in Schitt’s Creek, we are all excited to see this new venture of his when it releases.
