Rappers Drake and 21 Savage have announced a joint album named “her Loss” which is expected to drop on Friday, October 28th.
The two rappers are frequent collaborators with songs like “Knife Talk” from Drake’s Certified Lover Boy album, “Sneakin”, “Issa” and even “Mr. Right now”, a track from 21 Savage’s collaboration album with the producer Metro Boomin.
More recently, both rappers also worked on “Jimmy Cooks’ ‘from Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind album which was released just four months ago. The music video which Drake promised would drop on 21 Savage’s 30th birthday revealed the date and title of their joint album which drops this Friday. Prior to this, Drake also made a surprise appearance on 21 Savage’s Atlanta concert just recently and added flame to the collaboration rumors already going around at the time.
Speaking of the song “Jimmy Cooks”, it is also a reference to Drake’s Jimmy Brooks character in the Canadian Television series DegrassiThe Next Generation which he played for 8 years. The song debuted at no.1 on the Billboard Hot 100, a feat for both artists who have also been busy this year. Asides writing a song for Beyonce’s acclaimed album Renaissance, Drake has also been featured on Future’s Billboard No.1 hit “Wait for you” which also samples vocals from Tems. Savage himself has also been busy with features on Latto’s “Wheelie”, the Pharell Williams and Tyler the Creator collab “Cash In Cash Out”, and also on J.I.D ‘s “Surround Sound”.
Suffice it to say that both artists have been working round the clock this year and as such, expectations are extremely high for this joint album. No single has been released or teased from said album but if “Jimmy Cooks” is an example, we can expect great things.
