Since the release of Netflix’s record breaking drama series, Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the serial killer’s popularity has unfortunately shot up!
However, for any one that had plans to dress up as Dahmer for Halloween, eBay have made sure you wouldn’t be getting your costume from them.
According to a spokesperson, the platform has banned the sale of Jeffrey Dahmer inspired costumes as it violates its policy on violence and violent criminals. The company policy states that sellers are banned from listing items that “promote or glorify violence” or are associated with violent individuals, the acts for which they gained notoriety, or crime scenes from the past 100 years.

This would include Dahmer who killed 17 predominantly black men and boys from 1978 till his arrest in 1991.
Since the series launched, it has quickly become one of Netflix’s most popular shows, surpassing the record set by Squid Game. Along with the plaudits, the show has also faced criticism from across the world. Rita Isbell, the sister of one of Dahmer’s victims has voiced her displeasure about the show. In the show, the actors recreate a scene from the Dahmer sentencing in 1992 in which she gives a very emotional statement in the courtroom.
Isbell says Netflix never contacted her, or her family, about the show.
“The victims have children and grandchildren. If the show benefited them in some way, it wouldn’t feel so harsh and careless,” Isbell added. “It’s sad that they’re just making money off of this tragedy. That’s just greed.”
