According to a regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Elon Musk has disbanded the entire board of Twitter.
The filing states that all previous members of Twitter’s board, including former CEO Parag Agrawal and chairman Bret Taylor, are no longer directors “in accordance with the terms of the merger agreement.”
“On October 27, 2022, and as a result of the consummation of the Merger, Mr. Musk became the sole director of Twitter,” the company wrote in the regulatory filing.
“In accordance with the terms of the merger agreement, effective as of the effective time of the merger, the following persons, who were directors of Twitter prior to the effective time of the Merger, are no longer directors of Twitter: Bret Taylor, Parag Agrawal, Omid Kordestani, David Rosenblatt, Martha Lane Fox, Patrick Pichette, Egon Durban, Fei-Fei Li and Mimi Alemayehou.”
Elon already withdrew Twitter from the stock exchange so he can model the platform in his own way and without regulatory pressure, giving him full authority over the site. Twitter’s Chief Twit as he’s named himself plans to rethink the company’s content moderation policies and permanent bans for users who previously violated the platform’s policies.
If reports are to be believed, he is also planning large layoffs at the company.
When asked by a user what the most “messed up” thing was at Twitter at the moment, Elon Musk responded, “There seem to be 10 people “managing” for every one person coding”.
