The Montreal Canadiens have traded center Cam Hillis to the Chicago Blackhawks for defenceman Nicolas Beaudin.
Beaudin, a 23-year-old left-handed defenseman, played 22 career games in the NHL with Chicago.
Selected 27th overall at the 2018 draft, the 23-year-old from Chateauguay, Que., has also put up seven goals and 35 assists in 137 AHL contests.
Hillis was selected in the third round by the Canadiens in 2018 (66th overall). The Oshawa, ON native played one game in the NHL with Montreal in 2021-22.
The 22-year-old centerman skated in 42 games with the Laval Rocket in the AHL from 2020 to 2022, tallying 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists). Hillis also played with the Trois-Rivieres Lions in the ECHL the past two seasons where he amassed five goals and six assists in 17 games.
