Mike Itkis, a candidate hopeful for the New York Congress, released his sex tape on PornHub in a bid to promote himself.
One of Itkis’ key campaign issues is decriminalizing sex work, so to promote it, he participated in an adult film which he posted to the sex site on his own account.
Itkis reportedly released the tape to “demonstrate [his] commitment” to his “sex-positive approach.”
He is a current major in the US Army Reserve, is running to unseat Jerry Nadler in November.
“Creating the video significantly influenced my political platform, leading me to create the principles of sex work legalization, to speak about the complexities of consent, and the pros and cons of privacy considerations,” Itkis is quoted as saying.
He said that he hoped the video, which was posted to PornHub in June, would serve as a “starting point for conversations about the equal value of married people and those who are not, the expansion of sexual rights beyond abortion, and finally, the need to provide all citizens the tools necessary to protect themselves online.”
The 53-year-old Itkis – whose bio describes himself as ‘Not married. No kids. Not celibate. Atheist.’ – stars with adult actress Nicole Sage in the X-rated clip, which features the pair having sex on camera twice over the course of the past year.
“If I would just talk about it, it wouldn’t demonstrate my commitment to the issue,” Itkis told New York’s City & State, which was first to report news of the NSFW footage on Friday.
