Prince Harry Windsor, The Duke of Sussex and the second son of King Charles, is set to release a memoir titled “Spare,” slated to hit bookstores in January.
The book, originally announced in 2021, was billed to reflect “the highs and lows” and be “accurate and truthful”. In the accompanying press release, Random House, the publishers say thaat”Spare takes readers immediately to one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow and horror.”
As is common in most customs, the eldest child of a monarch inherits the position after death. Knowing that he was just the “extra” child made Prince Harry seek his own purpose and it was from this the title “Spare” was brought forth.
This is not the Prince’s first time being vulnerable in the media. In 2020, after he and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal positions to become fimancially independent, the two have made multiple media appearances, most notably, a tell all with Oprah Winfrey. They both spoke about the circumstances leading to thier exit, and made very strong accusations against unnamed memebers of the royal family, including the fact that one individual in particular was “worried about what complexion their son would be.”
Considering these media storms and The Sussexes current social syanding, the book is sure to be a bestseller and according to the publishers, it promises “raw, unflinching honesty” with the cover showing the Prince sporting a stern look. It is set to be released on January 10, 2023.
