Superstar, business mogul and new mum Rihanna is rumored to embark on a big tour in 2023.
As we know, the chart topping diva has been away from music since 2016 after the release of her groundbreaking album ANTI. save for a few features, it has been mum on the music end as she took time off to grow her businesses, which got her confirmed as a billionaire in 2021. She also got pregnant by longtime collaborator and boyfriend ASAP Rocky. Together, they care for their child who was just born in May 2022.
However, things seem like they are about to change as Rihanna has been confirmed as the headliner for the 2023 Superbowl Halftime show. There have also been rumors that pop icon is about to drop a project as she has been photographed on her way to studios. In true Rihanna fashion, all these information have been under the wraps but, with her superbowl performance underway, it does make business sense to release new material and capitalize on the momentum of her comeback to kickstart a tour.
As for the music, there may be some apprehension on her part, especially as it concerns reception. According to this Hits Daily Double report, it has the potential to do damage or uplift her brand. The report states that “For the last few years, the superstar has been sitting on an album’s worth of not-quite-finished material, but the conventional wisdom has been that there’s little upside to releasing new music. If it’s not as successful or well received as her prior hits, after all, that could tarnish her incredibly valuable brand. Some believe that strategy is now changing; for RiRi to maintain her relevancy and help her brand continue to grow, she’s making a move on the world’s biggest stage. Will she be sufficiently confident about the new music to release it?”
Nevertheless, it is THE Rihanna and I for one am optimistic that her new material if any, will be as good as the rest of her discography.
