Pop legend and business mogul Rihanna is reportedly recording two songs for the accompanying album for the Marvel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which releases on the 11th of November.
This rumor is not the first time Rihanna has been linked to the Black Panther sequel. In 2020, fans were going haywire over the possibility of Riri being cast in the film but it was soon debunked. Now, it appears she may be involved in the film, in more ways that one.
The first Black Panther film was accompanied a full studio effort, executively produced by Kendrick Lamar. It featured heavy hitters such as The Weeknd, Schoolboy Q, 2Chainz, Ab-soul, Mr. Lamar himself. There have alredy been songs released in anticipation of this sequel, some of the featuring Tems and Amaarae. Therefore, it is not far fetched that another “inspired by” album is making its way to the public on the day of the film’s release. If Rihanna is indeed involved in this, it would mark her first solo effort since 2016’s ANTI album. It would also be an ingenious return to the music industry without the pressure of performance or sales, ahead of her 2023 Superbowl halftime show performance.
In another rumor, we’re also being told that her inclusion in the film may come through her Fenty Beauty company. According to this chatter, some Fenty shops may be opened in Wakanda. Of course in true Rihanna and Marvel Studios form, none of these rumors have been confirmed but with the release date of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever drawing near, it is only a matter of time before we get answers.
