The G League Ignite won this game but they had to deal with barrage after barrage of attacks from the french unicorn. He had 9 points in the first half and when the game started to look like it was running away from his team, he turned it up a notch. He delivered dagger after dagger of threes in the second half, finishing with 28 points.
Scouting report on Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson
“At some point, it was just about taking over because our team needed players to step up because we were down [21 points], I think,” said Wembanyama. This was also his first time playing in the USA. “Coming back from such a lead, it’s a tough task. … There are times, you got to do what you got to do.”
On the other side was Scoot Henderson, who led his team to a 122-115 victory with 28 points on 11-of-21 shooting, adding nine assists and five rebounds. The projected number 2 pick showed off a display of impressive shots, drives and dunks, including a 3-pointer and reverse layup over Wembanyama in the first half.
This is the first of two games between the teams as they’ll meet again on Thursday at noon, local time (3 p.m. ET).
