A new WhatsApp update will now let users create groups with up to 1024 members.
Last week, the company rolled out the ability for users to leave Groups silently without notifying all members.
The new feature is still in beta mode and is rolling out to both Android and iOS devices. The cap for WhatsApp Groups initially stood at 256, but then was increased to 512 a few months ago.
In comparison, WhatsApp’s competitor Telegram allows for groups to have up to 200,000 participants.
WhatsApp also recently introduced a new desktop app for Windows that no longer requires users to have their phones online to send, receive, or sync messages.
Thanks to WhatsApp’s multi-device feature, users can link up to four devices to their accounts and send and receive messages on each of them independent of their phone.
