BTS star Jung Kook is scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The ceremony will take place next Sunday (November 20) on the day the tournament begins. He will also contribute to the World Cup soundtrack, according to a tweet from the seven-piece group.
The tweet read: “Proud to announce that Jung Kook is part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack & will perform at the World Cup opening ceremony. Stay tuned!”
The 2022 World Cup runs until December 18 in and around the capital city of Doha, and is being held amid ongoing criticism regarding the death of migrant workers in the creation of stadiums and the country’s views on homosexuality, which is illegal in Qatar.
A total of 32 teams, representing different countries, will participate. The winning team will be crowned as the World Cup champion on Dec. 18.
