Memphis Grizzles star guard, Ja Morant had to be helped off the court in the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with an apparent left ankle injury.
The injury happened in the fourth quarter of the game with the Grizzlies up 106-100 with just over 3 minutes to go. Before leaving the game, Morant was able to tally up 19 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds.
Thankfully, the injury didn’t tip the game in the Thunder’s favor as the Grizzlies went on to win 121-110.
For Grizzlies fans, this poses an issue as the team already lost fellow guard Desmond Bane to a sprained big toe injury for the next 2/3 weeks.
So far this season, Morant has been playing at an amazing level. He’s averaging 29.3 points, 6.8 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game this season and has led the team to a 10-6 record so far.
Last season, an injury to Morant was the story of the Grizzlies season. The 23-year-old was hurt in the second round of the playoffs against the eventual champions, Golden State Warriors and was out for the entire playoffs.
