Following the success of the first season, Peacock have now set a release date for the second season of Bel-Air.
The show which is a completely new take on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air story follows a young Will Smith (played by Jabari Banks) as he adjusts from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of the Bel-Air neighborhood in Los Angeles.
A fanmade film about a dramatic remake of the hit show “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” by Morgan Cooper was the catalyst for the creation of Bel-Air. Now Cooper serves as co-writer, director and executive producer of the hit show from Peacock.
Carla Banks Waddles, the showrunner explained that the second season would touch on what it truly means to be a family. She said,
“In season two, the show will continue to find ways to push the envelope and feel refreshing and unique while also honoring the heart of the legacy series. Last season was very much about the introduction to the Banks family world, and this season we get to go deeper with some of the themes we touched on— What it truly means to be a family even when it’s challenging. How do you rebuild trust within a family? How do you find your own way, your individualism within a family?”
