With the conclusion of one of the more exciting group stages in recent years, the 2022 FIFA World Cup heads into the knockout phases.
Reigning champions France, from Group D, were the first team to make the cut for the Round of 16 after winning their first two group games convincingly. Les Bleus first beat Australia 4-1 before outplaying Denmark 2-1.
France — without Karim Benzema, Christopher Nkunku, N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba — will look to rise above their injuries and off the pitch drama to make a run to defend their title from 2018.
Lionel Messi has already announced that this will be his final World Cup for tournament favourites Argentina, and are expected to coast past Australia through to the Quarter Finals
