James Cameron’s gold touch at the box office continues as “Avatar: The Way of Water” crossed the $1 billion mark in ticket sales.
Disney/20th Century reported that James Cameron’s blockbuster sequel added $74.6 million on Tuesday, with $23.8 million coming from domestic theaters.
The only other films to cross this barrier in the year is the blockbuster Tom Cruise hit “Top Gun: Maverick”, which brought in a total of $1.48 billion worldwide, and “Jurassic World: Dominion”, which raked in just over a billion worldwide.
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is the only other movie to cross the landmark since the pandemic.
The movie is Cameron’s third to cross the billion-dollar mark, following the first “Avatar” movie and “Titanic.”
