Jonathan Sherman, one of four children of murdered Toronto billionaires Barry and Honey Sherman, has increased the reward for information on the crime to $35 million.
The murders of the billionaire couple turns 5 years this week. They were found dead in their North York mansion on the 15th of December, 2017.
The bodies of Barry – the founder of Apotex Pharmaceuticals – and his wife Honey were found two days later by a realtor.
An autopsy had determined that the cause of death was strangulation. Police, at the time, couldn’t find any proof of a forced entry. Investigators deemed that the case was a double homicide, but haven’t been able to solve it.
“Closure will not be possible until those responsible for this evil act are brought to justice,” Jonathon Sherman said in a statement. “I have been overwhelmed with pain, loss, and sorrow and these feelings only continuously compound.”
The initial reward by the family was $10 million, but the family hopes that the increased rewards may bear fruits.
“This immeasurable pain is felt every day when I realize that my own two children will never have the privilege of meeting my parents who made their lives possible for me and my husband,” he said. “I continue to miss my parents more than I can describe, and I am forever haunted by what happened to them.”
