Morocco captain Romain Saiss says he will do everything he can to be fit for his team’s 2022 FIFA World Cup semi final match against France.
Saiss only played 55 minutes in Morocco’s 1-0 win over Portugal before he was taken off due to injury.
With Morocco sure to need every available player against a talented France side, Saiss says he will try his best to be available. He says: “I will try, I don’t know. We will see tomorrow; we will do some exams to see what kind of injury I have. But I will try my best to be on the pitch. I hope it will be OK.
“After that, if I feel it’s too difficult, I will not take any risks to put my team in trouble just to play the semi-final. But, of course, I will give everything I can to be here, like I did to be here for 55 minutes today.”
Could Morocco go past France and into the Final? Saiss, who plays for Besiktas, isn’t ruling it out.
“We dream of course, dreaming is free, but to do it is different,” he said.
“We put a lot of energy into each game, physically and mentally it’s hard but it feels so good.
“I know we made history but we want to keep making history. We’ll see. What’s important now is to recover well and prepare the semi-final.”
