Wimbledon winner Elena Ryabinka defeated Victoria Azarenka 7-6 (4), 6-3 to progress to the final of the 2023 Australian Open.
Prior to facing Azarenka, Ryabinka had knocked out current number one Iga Swiatek and 2022 Australian Open runner-up Danielle Collins.
She will face Aryna Sabalenka in the Women’s Final on Saturday.
Former world number 1 Azarenka said after the game: “I can’t say I played great tennis today. I didn’t really do that. I’m proud of myself how I tried … she’s a great player, she has big weapons. If she improves a couple of areas, she is going to be better … I want to see how she is in five years.”
