The highly-anticipated fight between YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul and Tommy Fury is set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on February 26th.
The event, which is being partnered with Top Rank and broadcast digitally in the United States on ESPN+ pay-per-view, had initially been reported to take place on February 25th.
Fury has stated that the main reason for pursuing the fight with Paul is for financial gain, and not for any personal grudge between the two.
The Brit has said that while he does want to beat Paul and put a stop to his abrasive boxing movement, he is not particularly bothered about what Paul says in the efforts to hype the fight.
The two have been going back-and-forth since the beginning of 2021, and they have finally inked a deal to fight in Saudi Arabia next month, where Fury will reportedly earn $2.5 million.
The fight will be contested at 185 pounds and is contracted for eight rounds.
Despite being keen to “earn his stripes”, Fury admitted that the financial incentive of taking what has become a two-year detour from his main boxing career to focus on Paul has become too much for him to resist.
This is particularly true now that his girlfriend, Molly Mae Hague, is due to have their first child at any moment.
In the co-main event, former two-weight world champion Badou Jack will face WBC cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu.
Also on the card, Ashton Sylve, an undefeated top prospect from Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, will face Maxwell Awuku.
An official announcement on the card is expected later Friday.
The Paul vs. Fury card will be co-produced by Saudi Arabia’s Skill Challenge Entertainment Enterprises and Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, in association with Fury’s promoter Queensberry Promotions and Top Rank.
