Toronto police are investigating a stabbing incident that took place in a downtown Toronto apartment building on Sunday afternoon.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene while a male suspect is in custody.
The incident happened inside 251 Sherbourne Street at around 3:40 p.m. according to police reports.
Paramedics reported that a second victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The male suspect was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The homicide unit has taken control of the investigation and police are looking for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
“Officers arrived on scene and located a male with obvious stab wounds and a second male was placed in custody,” Toronto Police Service (TPS) Duty Inspector Saleem Husain told media at the scene.
“Toronto Fire arrived with us at the same time and started performing life-saving measures on the male, and unfortunately at this point, he’s been pronounced deceased on scene.”
There is no ongoing threat to public safety.
